CEO Helene Auramo visited Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. The audience was the students of Master´s degree programme in School Business and Services Management. Attending adult students have professional skills in different areas of private business, entrepreneurship and public sector. Most of the students were not familiar with the social media applications in business. Helene reminded the audience that nowadays it is not possible for a company to stay out from social media. The company is there in any case. If not, it is real sad for the business. The company should have a social media strategy and plans for the worker collaboration and customer collaboration. According to Auramo social media strategy has the following phases:
1. Analyze your own competence
2. Organize social media monitoring
3. Choose the tools (LinkedIn, FB, YouTube, Blogs, Wiki etc.).
Key points taken from Auramo’s lecture:
- “Finland is unfortunately not the pioneer country in social media, and there is a lot of work to do on this area.”¨
- “Transparency is one of the most important things in the social media.”
- “Customer communication doesn’t always have to be open. It is also possible through private channels. “
- “In LinkedIn is important to network with other professionals.”
- “For Wikipedia traffic statistics: The eagle in the address stats.grok.se can follow the Wiki traffic.“
